Richardson Update Dec. 17-30

Although governor Richardson has not been getting much attention from the other states for the presidential election his own state, New Mexico, decided to give him a boost and say that "without him they would not have as many jobs and there would be less attention focused on them." It is nice to see him have the support of his state. The assassination of Benazir Bhutto made Richardson chastice the Bush administration Pakistan policy. He urged them to stop military aid to the country and further critized Bush's policies. He has been one of the few candidates that refuses to support Musharrah if he wins the election. Richardson still feels the surge in Iowa even though he is not predicted to be in the race between Edwards, Clinton and Obama. He said there is 40% undecided voters in Iowa and they usually make up their mind five days before the election. He has the confidence that his message has been getting through to the people and that he will appear the winner. Richardson is so confident about his supporter base that he filed for the Texas primary along with Mitt Romney. At this time all of the candidates are focusing their time and energy in Iowa and Bill Richardson has the confidence and the support that he will be a winner in the Iowa primary election.

Richardson Update (Dec. 9-16)

Richardson recently defined himself  as a "moderate, because I am not predictable,” and  said, “I’m fiscally very conservative — I balanced budgets, I cut taxes — but I’m socially very progressive. I would say moderate is sensible.” Richardson also announced that he has been endorsed by the National Rifle Association, a typically more conservative interest group. Furthermore, Richardson recently denounced the use of attacks between the Democratic candidates, saying that they only distract from the serious issues at hand.  He said, "Almost a year ago, I came out and said all the Democratic hopefuls need to sign a pledge that we won't attack each other. Only Joe Biden signed it with me."  Although he may be against "attacking" other candidates, he sure has no problem attacking the current president.  He has continued to attack Bush: announcing that as President of the United States, he will immediately instigate serious investigations regarding the CIA tapes and torture and also through his response to the National Intelligence Estimate on Iran.  Richardson's strategy of denigrating Bush works to emphasize the necessity of a "diplomat" in office...namely himself.  In Concord on the 15th, he also committed himself to governing in a "bipartisan way," saying that through all his experience he has grown to be able "over the years to reconcile differences."  Governor Richardson also revealed his National Disability Policy on the 16th, through an online chat with his spokeswoman, Cody Unser, a Transverse Myelitis patient.

Richardson Update Dec. 2-8

The schedule of New Mexico Governor and Presidential Nominee Bill Richardson has consisted of traveling throughout Iowa and Washington DC this week to campaign. He has visited his 99th of Iowa’s 99 counties. Throughout his campaign he has shown his support and dedication to the rural and urban areas in Iowa. He continues to be the only candidate who brings both change and experience into the race, and it seems to be producing some good results. On December 3rd while campaigning in Iowa, Richardson proposed his mortgage and credit card markets policy.
Instead of attending the NPR debate on December 4th, Richardson went to the memorial service for Corporal Clem R. Boody, a US MIA whose remains he helped secure and return from North Korea in April 2007.
Richardson expressed his disappointment in other senators, Clinton, Obama, Biden and Dodd because they failed to show up for an important vote on Alternative Minimum Tax. He felt that this legislation could prove some needed relief for Americans straining during Bush’s failed economic policies. He pledged to always show up and fight for the middle class unlike the other senators. Hooray!! Richardson received an A on his report card; wouldn’t his parents be so proud? He received the highest grade and the only “A” on Independent Report Card that graded presidential candidates plans to address energy policy and climate change.
He also received new support from Pedro Mora, a former Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib interrogator. He campaigned in Iowa on behalf of Richardson and in the process accused Bush on recent revelations that the CIA destroyed.
Richardson has proved to be consistent in the polls, being in fourth place in many states, and plans on campaigning and fundraising in Nevada, California, Iowa, New York and New Hampshire this week.

Richardson Update Nov. 26-Dec. 1

This week, Richardson aggressively campaigned in Iowa, in hopes of winning the votes of the rural population. During his rigorous agenda of all 99 counties, Richardson announced his agricultural plan,which incorporates his call for an Energy Revolution as well as "put[ting] fairness back into our farm policy." Furthermore, he released his new ad on education, suggesting he is the only candidate with a "bold plan" on education.  He took a break from Iowa on the 28th, heading to New York for his celebration of the 75th chapter in New York City of his outreach program, Mi Familia con Richardson (there are now over 200 in the country).  Also, the Brotherhood of Electrical Works or IBEW of Nevada decided to endorse Richardson in his presidential campaign on the 28th.  On December 1st, Richardson returned to Iowa to continue his campaign there.  In response to the Republican Debate on Tuesday, Bill Richardson revealed in an interview that he was appalled and "disgusted" at the Republican candidates' attacks on immigrants, asserting that it "is not only wrong, it's bad for the economy."
